What to expect
When you think of a workshop don't think of a conference or seminar where attendees passively receive information. While that practice is beneficial, the workshops are designed to be much more active. We believe this enhances the absorption of the material and the overall experience. We think it is even better when that learning process begins before we gather. Shortly after registering you will be assigned a passage to work on, using the passage preparation worksheet. Some (if not all) of the questions will directly relate to the instruction sessions that will be given at the workshop. At the workshop we spend time in large group instruction sessions, small group time, and then send you home with a resource that can continue to walk you into sound Bible reading principles. Below is a short word on each of those components, or check out the video on the home page to find out what others have to say.
Instruction sessions
The purpose of the instruction sessions is to equip attendees with sound Bible reading principles. Typically, a workshop will focus on a particular literary genre of Scripture, since different writing styles demand different interpretation techniques. These sessions usually include a high level of interaction, fit for the adult learner.

Small groups
The small group sessions are a key ingredient to a workshop because it helps us to put into practice some of the material from the instruction times. At first notice it may sound intimidating, but it often proves to be a major highlight for attendees. We are all learning together and seeking to help one another long in becoming stronger readers of God’s word. Each group consists of 6-9 people. Each participant will present the work the completed on their assigned passage, using the passage preparation worksheet. Please bring enough copies for your whole group.

As you go...
We may part ways after the workshop, but our desire is to assist your continued growth in accurately reading God’s word. One way we do that is to offer a practical reading tool for attendees. The philosophy is to walk the reader into sound Bible reading principles by using creative questions. Rather than encourage attendees to memorize a long list of rules of interpretation, this resource does some of that labor for you until, Lord willing, the right kind of questions become intuitive. It is available as a phone app or in hard copy format.
