How it unfolded
It would be impossible to retrace all the experiences and thank all the people that have shaped our thinking and passion to see God’s people equipped to accurately handle God’s word. Nonetheless, there are a few that are noteworthy, from whom we have acquired a good amount of our material and methodology for the workshops. It began in the early 1980’s in England when a group gathered preachers for a conference on expository preaching. They later became known as The Proclamation Trust. Throughout the years, people traveled from the U.S. to learn from them, which eventually birthed two U.S. based ministries, The Charles Simeon Trust and Leadership Resources International. Each of them minister on a global scale and we are grateful to the Lord for the work He is doing through them. Their primary focus is to train pastors in proclaiming God’s word.

This is where we come in. The original Around the Word leadership team was three pastors, who in various ways, were influenced by these ministries. The match was officially made when the three of them attended the same Simeon Trust workshop forty minutes south of the city. After those days together, they decided to work together as two Milwaukee churches to bring a lay-level workshop to the two flocks. The feedback was strong and the next year they did it again, inviting other churches to come and observe what is going on. And the story continues…
